Trainee Positions

• 5 Advanced Trainee registrar positions, 6 or 12 months (12 months preferred)
  • 12 month positions accredited for 6 months Rural General Paediatrics with perinatal - Rural/Regional plus 6 months Community/Developmental
  • 6 month positions only accredited for General Paediatrics with perinatal - Rural/Regional 

Trainee Level

• Advanced trainee registrars – preferably post FRACP exams
• Continuing Basic trainees and International Medical Graduates will be considered if sufficient neonatal experience

Roster and on-call

• Registrar cover 24/7 in two shifts
• Registrar clinic 3x/week, full consultant supervision

Wards

• 10 paediatric beds
• 10 bed Level 4 SCN (1000 births per year)
• ICU cares for some high acuity Paeds patients

Junior Staff

• 3 HMOs (2 JRMOs on rotation from Victorian Paediatric Training Program & 1 HMO)
• Junior staff provide provide cover until 8pm

Senior Staff

• 5 staff specialists, including one neonatologist

Clinics 

• Registrar clinic 3x/week, full consultant supervision
• Rapid Access clinic 2x/week

Education and Teaching

• Weekly Sydney Children’s Hospital and Monash Children’s Grand Round videoconferences
• Weekly regional case presentations (video-conferenced with Sale)
• Monthly M&M, journal club and radiology meetings
• Monthly case conference involving paediatricians, Child and Youth Mental Health Service and Education Department
• Wednesday dedicated teaching time - Community Child Health lectures & regional tutorials
