Positions on this site are part of the Victorian Paediatric Advanced Training group (VPAT) who are recruiting in a collaborative manner to decrease the number of individual applications registrars need to complete in order to be considered by multiple sites / jobs
- The following job types are currently recruited via this process
- General Paediatrics - Registrars and Senior Registrars
- Neonatology - Registrars (also called Neonatal Medical Officers)
- Community Child Health - Registrars (previously called Fellows) and Senior Registrars (also called Senior Fellows)
- Some subspecialist registrar/fellow positions - e.g. Infectious Diseases, Rehab, Immigrant Health
Positions for many subspecialty units (eg Cardiology, Gastroenterology etc) are not included on this site
Please note that this is a recruitment program. It is NOT an advanced training network and we are not trying to match to candidates' specific training needs. We are allocating based on competitiveness for particular positions, much like occurs when you apply to an individual position. The site/hospital you are applying to must also rank you high enough for us to allocate you to that role.
Contact
- A central email is available for queries or issues. This is actively monitored during the main application period (June - August), but is infrequently monitored during other months of the year. The central email is:
- vpat.recruitment@gmail.com
- Outside of active-monitoring times - please contact individual sites directly
Neonatology
- A recent change has been made to the title for roles within the NICU's in Victoria. This change reflects the two-tiers of training roles within the units.
- Neonatal medical officers (NeoMedOfficer) is the combined title for positions at trainee registrar, unaccreditated registrar or unaccredited senior resident medical officer level, as these roles all work within the one roster.
- These roles are suitable for General Paediatric advanced trainees, Neonatal advanced trainees (usually in their 1st year of advanced training), Continuing paediatric basic trainees, international medical graduates in their first year of Australian hospital tertiary neonatal experience, unaccredited registrars, and senior resident medical officers.
- Please check with the individual units regarding the pay and conditions at their unit to ensure it meets your needs - PRIOR to preferencing your positions.
- Neonatal Fellows / Senior Registrars roles are suitable for advanced trainees working towards Fellowship in Neonatology with the RACP. A minimum of 12 months tertiary neonatal experience is required. These roles have additional responsibilities and some independence in procedural skills, ability to supervise more junior medical staff, and contribution to education and research are all vital to success in these roles. Most Fellow roles are not currently recruited via VPAT, but Monash NICU will have a limited number of Fellow positions listed on this site.
