Applications for 2026 positions are closed. Health Services will advertise individually for any remaining 2026 roles. Applications for 2027 positions will open in July 2026.
Positions are recruited centrally, but allocations are on a competitive basis and are not based on a trainee's outstanding training requirements, as we are not a training network. It is the responsibility of the candidate to seek a position description from each site, and to clarify any questions they have directly with the health service or department they are seeking employment with. Only one position will be offered via the VPAT program - this will be the best matched role we can offer based on your preferences and the health services' rankings of candidates who have applied to their role(s).

If seeking 2 x 6 month positions (Feb - Aug and Aug - Feb), these may be offered in either order for all metro and outer-metro positions - even if you have preferenced for 1st half or 2nd half. This is to maximise our ability to allocate you to rotations that you want. You must contact us via email if there is a reason you could only accept the roles in a particular order. Rural positions will be offered in the half of the year they have been preferenced - unless you have contacted us to say you do are happy to accept in either order.
