Trainee Positions

  • 5 Advanced Trainee registrar positions, 6 or 12 months (12 months preferred)
    • 12 month positions accredited for 6 months Rural/Regional plus 6 months Community/Developmental or Acute
    • 6 month positions accredited for Rural/Regional only

Trainee Level

  • Advanced trainee registrars – preferably post FRACP exams


Roster and on-call

  • Registrar cover 24/7 in two shifts
  • Registrar clinic 3x/week, full consultant supervision


  • 10 paediatric beds
  • 10 bed Level 4 SCN - approx. 1000 births per year
  • ICU cares for some high acuity Paeds patients

Junior Staff

  • 3 HMOs (2 JRMOs on rotation from Victorian Paediatric Training Program & 1 HMO)
  • Junior staff provide provide cover until 8pm

Senior Staff

  • 5 staff specialists, including one neonatologist

Clinics (that trainees can attend)

  • Registrar clinic 3x/week, full consultant supervision
  • Raipd Access clinic 2x/week

Education and Teaching

  • Weekly Sydney Children’s Hospital and Monash Children’s Grand Round videoconferences
  • Weekly regional case presentations (video-conferenced with Sale)
  • Monthly M&M, journal club and radiology meetings
  • Monthly case conference involving paediatricians, Child and Youth Mental Health Service and Education Department
  • Wednesday dedicated teaching time - Community Child Health lectures & regional tutorials

    Traralgon: Latrobe City is 1.5 hours to Melbourne CBD by car and offers easy access (within 1.5-2 hours drive) to the Walhalla Gold Field, national parks, Gippsland lakes, Wilson's Promontory, beautiful beaches including Inverloch, ski resorts and mountains, with excellent opportunities for horse riding, fishing and hiking.
